Wildlife and Forestry agencies are usually understaffed and underfunded, hence reducing their capacity to undertake their mandate. Mt. Kenya Conservation Forum will involve local communities in protection of wildlife against poaching and protecting forest and other natural resources from illegal and unsustainable uses through mobilization of community rangers dubbed

The role of the community Nature Corps will include:

·Assist in the monitoring of illegal activities including poaching

·Report poaching incidences to the authorities, 

·Destruction of traps,

• Provide  information or take action in uncovering illegal activities

• Effective and prompt communication between team members.

·Collect and analyze data on poaching

·Forest fire monitoring, reporting and mitigation
