Program details

 

  • Participate in community education and awareness raising campaigns on Human/Wildlife Conflicts, threats to conservation of nature and community participation in conservation of wildlife and other natural resources through community outreach programs.

 

  • Participate in wildlife research: Designing and implementing research surveys to identify the best ways of working together with communities to support sustainable management and conservation of wildlife. Some days may be spent out in the field visiting households and other respondents collecting data on wildlife conservation related issues such as extent of human-wildlife conflicts, poaching, deforestation, wildlife population trends, human impacts on conservation, and community benefits from conservation, community recommendations on the best wildlife management approaches and give feedback to the local conservation agencies.

 

  • Develop/apply suitable community participatory education tools at local level.

 

  • There may be an opportunity to be placed in a wildlife sanctuary, animal orphanage or a national park where you learn about caring of rescued animals and conservation of key wildlife species found in Africa including endangered species such as rhinos, elephants among other species e.g buffaloes, antelopes, Colobus monkeys, baboons, wild cats, birds etc
