Program details

In Africa, and Kenya in particular, conservation efforts that are not linked to social development are given little or no attention by the society despite the enormous benefits of nature conservation. As a conservation organization, Mt. Kenya Conservation Forum has a responsibility to the society. By reaching out to the needy we help cement a strong bond between the society and conservation. One way of achieving this is by engaging volunteers who love nature to support social issues. Supporting Children's Homes is a perfect way of a conservation organization to reach out to the community. Placement in a children home will not only help the needy but also act as an ambassador of nature conservation. To support conservation our volunteers to children homes would participate in the following environmental management activities in the children homes:

  • Waste management and keeping the general environment clean and safe for the kids

  • Water conservation,

  • Energy conservation
