This project seeks to establish a conservation center at a location near Mt. Kenya ecosystem.

 

The center objectives are to promote endeavors in conservation through public awareness on the importance of conservation of nature and protection of the endangered species, sustainable utilization of natural resources, education and training, and provide local and visiting international researchers, scientists and education groups with information and samples. The center will also promote conservation through music, drama and cultural dances. The center once established will be a multifaceted facility with conference facilities, offices, a conservation library, an auditorium, a dining hall and a kitchen, accommodation facilities for education groups, visiting researchers and others. The center will also have a printing press, a recording studio and an eco-museum. The eco-museum will display animal and plant materials of conservation importance, green energy exhibits, creative arts, as well as cultural and traditional exhibits. In addition there will be facility which will be used to show case nature based enterprises such as tree nursery management, wildlife farming techniques, value addition for natural products e.g honey processing, herbal medicine evaluation and processing, waste management techniques etc.
