This program comprises of such activities as; Youth Leadership; Youth Self Awareness and Life Skills; Youth Environmental Leadership.

Program details

Our vision in this program is to create local movements of diverse young Kenyans who have the skills, connections, and motivation to effectively advocate for our communities and environment. The program targets students and youth of up to 25 years in Kenya.  Working alongside other volunteers you will participate in one or more of the following programs:

Youth Leadership and self-reliance

  • Organize and participate in youth forums(through church youth groups, school clubs, football clubs etc) for team building activities, leadership development workshops, community service activities, meeting with community leaders

  • Providing leadership skills training and supporting youth-led community action projects and campaigns.

  • Creative and performing arts: volunteers will assist the youth to develop their talents, teaching them dancing, music production, fine arts, and other relevant talent related fields.

Youth Self Awareness And Life Skills,

  •  Organize drama, play, music, role play, talks and/or games to engage young people in developing life skills, self awareness, discipline, health awareness and youth challenge issues including alcoholism, drug use and sexuality.

  • Participate in awareness raising campaigns on general public health and hygiene including HIV/AIDS,  nutrition and education through community outreach programmes

  • Help the youth in developing passion in outdoor activities and sports targeting students and youth clubs. As a volunteer you will assists in motivating and coordinating youth groups, training in sports, and organizing sports competitions.

Youth Environmental Leadership

  • Participate in community education and awareness raising campaigns on Human/Wildlife Conflicts, threats to conservation of nature and community participation in conservation of wildlife and other natural resources through community outreach programmes.

  • Other days may be spent out in the field visiting households and collecting data on various health-related issues to feedback to the local health groups or clinic

  • Develop/apply suitable community participatory education tools at local level.

Who can volunteer in our youth leadership programs?  We are looking for enthusiastic and determined volunteers who want to make a difference to young people. We welcome people of all walks of life and who are above the age of 18; students, teachers, social workers, skilled workers, retired people, school administrators, and/or community leaders who work with youth. You do not need any formal qualifications to participate. You will find this program very rewarding, gaining new skills, confidence and cultural awareness.
