Environmental clean ups

 

“Keep Our Environment Clean Campaign” is one of our conservation campaigns; the campaign is aimed to make Mt. Kenya Ecosystem and its surroundings the cleanest and greenest place in the region by addressing the problem of insensitive littering. We encourage and empower community groups, schools, individuals, religious groups, tourists, corporate organizations, businesses, and local governments to join hands and carry out community-based activities that address local environmental issues. We organize such events as environmental clean-up days, green/Eco- weeks, conservation weeks, environmental management competition- all aimed at mobilizing the public and various groups to participate in cleaning up the environment. Activities include: cleaning up rivers, cleaning estates, villages, schools and tourist areas on Mt. Kenya. Participants are recognized by being awarded a green certificate. Recycling is also encouraged and communities, schools, colleges and organizations committed to reduce wastage are recognized through an award system. Other environmental activities include campaign against drug and alcohol abuse, HIV/AIDS spread and tree planting.
